How can it be that cool? As quoted from outside online, the 37-year-old athlete does the same routine before the game. For the previous four months, he would do a slight variation of the same exercise each week. He has principles in training that successfully led him to a world record.

Consistency

When training, Kipchoge does not waste energy and ability. This means that the training is always controlled and there is always something saved for the next exercise so that it can be consistent and achieve the expected training volume.

“I try not to run 100 percent. I put in 80 percent performance on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, then 50 percent on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday,” he said.

Balance

As a marathon athlete, Kipchoge does not put running as the only training menu. Still need variety so that the results are balanced for his body.

Twice a week, Kipchige does 60-minute strength and mobility training sessions using a yoga mat and resistance band. This exercise focuses on the posterior muscles, especially the glutes, hamstrings, and core.

Recovery

Recovery is an essential part of training. Kipchoge follows a daily routine that begins at 5:45 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m. In his spare time, he enjoys reading books and chatting with his teammates.

Kipchoge has established routines for both his sleeping and eating, and as part of his physiotherapy, he receives massages twice a week.
